Micheal
and Ian's musical
talents merged together in 2006.
Micheal already had his own
portfolio of songs he'd recorded
over the last few years, and Ian had
a pile of songs which were still
confined to paper. One Thursday
evening Ian crashed through Micheal
and Jenna's front door seeking a pen
and paper as he'd had an idea for a
song that needed writing down before
it was forgotten. By the end of that
evening the three of them had the
basis for not one but three songs.
As the weeks went by their
song-writing became more prolific
and by early 2008 they had enough
material for an album, and decided
on 12 songs for their debut NOT FOR
SALE.

Micheal Freeman
Micheal
Freeman, guitarist and songwriter,
had been writing, producing and
playing his own music whilst playing
in various rock bands for over 20
years.
In 2006 Micheal joined a local covers
band, Wasteland. "Playing covers live
in Wasteland was fun for a while",
Micheal says,
"but it was never what
I wanted to do". Micheal left the
band 18 months later to pursue his own musical
interests. He and Ian had already
begun writing together and decided to
combine their talents.
Their
combined tendency towards dark and
sombre lyrics together with
enthusiasm for rock plus Micheal's
playing and arranging skills have
brought FreemanHill to the point it
is today.

Ian Hill
Ian Hill
played drums
with a Cambridge based covers band
called Slingshot for 7 years. The
band played predominately rock
covers, their most memorable gig was
playing Donnington MegaShow in 2003.

In 2006 Slingshot split and reformed
as Wasteland with new guitarist
Micheal Freeman. "Micheal was reluctant to join
at first as he did not enjoy playing covers"
says Ian.
Wasteland gigged around the
Cambridge area for about a year,
before Ian decided to leave,
preferring to concentrate on
his own material. Six months later
Micheal left Wasteland, and the
rest is history. "There's a real
synergy in our song-writing,
although Micheal would prefer it if
I didn't write everything in
A-minor, but then minor keys suite
my sombre character" Ian reveals.

Jenna Freeman
Jenna Freeman, vocalist and accomplished keyboard player with a BA Honours degree in Music, began her music career in the late 1980s when she formed the female accapella quintet "Gross Encounters" who wowed the cabaret scene for several years. The band toured the southeast and proved a hit at the Edinburgh Festival. Jenna spent the next eight years in various Cambridge bands before embarking on a music degree in 1997 specialising in jazz piano and vocals, which she successfully completed in 2000.
Jenna and Micheal met in the Summer of 2000 and whilst both remaining passionate about music did not collaborate until Ian crashed through the
door on that fateful Thursday evening.
